About This Site
HardWaterShowerFilter.com is run by [YOUR NAME], a [one-line bio: e.g., writer and researcher who covers home water quality and practical gear].
This site exists because the shower filter category is drowning in a specific lie: that a cartridge behind your showerhead can "soften" hard water. It can't, no product can, and most review sites repeat the claim anyway because it sells. We built this site on the opposite bet: tell you exactly what filters do (remove chlorine and sediment, which genuinely matters for hair and skin), exactly what they don't (touch the hardness minerals), and let you buy the right tool with clear eyes. Sometimes that means telling you the $35 filter is all you need. Sometimes it means telling you no filter will help and you should price a softener.
How We Evaluate
Every recommendation is built from third-party certifications (NSF/ANSI 177 above all), published independent lab tests, manufacturer specifications, cartridge economics over one and three years, and aggregated owner feedback across retail platforms. When we haven't personally tested a filter, we say so on the page. When a spec or health claim is marketing rather than chemistry, we say that too.
On the Health Claims
Hard water, chlorine, hair, and skin attract exaggerated claims in both directions. We report what the studies found, including the two hair studies everyone cites and misreads, and what they don't prove. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and we don't claim any product treats any condition. Our full, cited positions live in do shower filters actually work and hard water and hair loss.
How We Make Money
Amazon affiliate commissions. If you buy through a link here, Amazon pays us a percentage and your price doesn't change. Two commitments behind that: rankings never change based on commission rates, and we'd rather point you at the cheaper certified filter (we usually do) than burn trust for a bigger payout.
